FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I express my well wishes to all. BRIDGE started its development activities in 1992 in the southern coastal region of Bangladesh for socioeconomic development of the deprived community. At first, BRIDGE initiated its development programs in Khulna and Bagerhat district under the leadership of some efficient, young, energetic and dedicated activists. Initially, the main focuses of BRIDGE were poverty reduction and education for the socioeconomic development of disadvantaged peoples and thus it started with Micro-finance, Education and Handicraft program.

Now, integrated program and project has been taken for poor and disadvantaged people in the supervised areas of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jessore, Gopalganj, Narail, Perojpur, Barisal, Dhaka, Faridpur, Gazipur, Jamalpur, Kishoreganj, Madaripur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Mymensingh, Narayanganj, Norshingdi, Netrokona, Shariatpur, Sherpur, Tangail, Magura, Barguna, Jhalokathi & Patuakhali districts.

Now we are working at several sectors of development including renewable energy, micro-enterprise development, water, agro-product development, skill based training for human development etc. for overall socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

In this year, BRIDGE has successfully implemented different development programs and projects in Bangladesh. BRIDGE Solar Home System program is the most popular and successful program in the field of renewable energy sector in Bangladesh. Other programs like Rural Piped Water Supply, Agro-Product Development, BRIDGE training Center, Micro Enterprise, Education (NFE) with human skill development and improve income generating activity, Vulnerable Group Development are also some other valuable projects of BRIDGE.

I wish all of our activities would have better role to build up a hunger free future Bangladesh.

Finally, I express my sincere thanks to our partner organizations, donors and different ministries for their generous support to BRIDGE. Special thanks to all officials who had linkage with these activities. At the end, I want to express our gratitude to the all people of Bangladesh.

BACKGROUND

BRIDGE-Bangladesh Rural Integrated Development for Grub-street Economy is a non-government organization has been working since 1992 in the development sector of Bangladesh. The organization was started its journey from the south-west coastal zone of Bangladesh in which people were deprive from socio-economic development and the basic social needs. At the mean time BRIDGE was started its development activities in those areas of the southern Bangladesh. Now, BRIDGE has started its development activities almost all the areas of southwest and other parts of Bangladesh. In current situation the most popular programs of BRIDGE is the Solar Homes System Program, Rural Pipe water Supply, Micro Credit, Agro-product Development, Skill based training, Education (Non-Formal) etc. About 2000 energetic members are working in the development activities in BRIDGE-Bangladesh. In the recent 3 years BRIDGE has planed to work in five divisions, 28 districts which would have great contribution for socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, gender equity, health, education and Human Resources Development in Bangladesh.

VISION

To create a self-reliant society with gender, class and caste equality in a pluralistic value.

MISSION

Address the distressed people with the instruments needed to deal with their social,

cultural, environmental, health & economic predicaments for establishing social impartiality.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

Bridge work for following objectives

  • To build up a self-reliance economy for overall socio-economic development considering equality of the land less and grub-street people by creating savings and National capital.
  • To enhance Income generating program as-fish cultivation, poultry, cattle cultivation, and lease of slit up pond and re-excavation create farm and create cultivable land.
  • To trained the unskilled people on practical and job oriented works for producing variety of chattels and by selling them to increase fund of the Organization.
  • To rise social, economical and environmental awareness of the community people.
  • To motivate people for ecological balance by undertaking various environments programs including environmental education, nursery, and raising tree plantation and organic agriculture.
  • To impart child education to the neglected children and to build them as a school going children.
  • Economically backward, neglected uncultured society can be able to increase their source of income and standard of living by the help of BRIDGE.
  • Improving gender equity and gender participation for socioeconomic planning and development activities.

ORGANIGATIONAL STRUCTURE

BRIDGE has governed by three councils namely General Council (GC), Executive Council (EC) and Advisory Council (AC). General Council of BRIDGE is consists of 26 members, Executive Committee is consist of 7 members and Advisory Council is consist of 5 members.
